The reason why I am a successful marketer is I invest in my learning. I have two millennial coaches. Each has earned over a million dollars as a digital entrepreneur. Here is an email I received from one of my coaches:
Marketer A Vs. Marketer B
If you’ve been reading my past emails you’ve seen that I’ve been talking a lot about building your brand online and the importance of building your email list. But today I want to teach you how to build relationships with your subscribers and followers to build a TRIBE. A group of people that become repeated buyers from years to come. I have people that have been following for 3 years now and they keep buying my products. Actually most people that ever see your advertisements or your content don’t buy the first time.
They have to consume your content, value and learn a bit more about you before they give you their money. The big problem is that in general, Internet marketers want to make money fast. So they work day in and day out to generate that first sale. It doesn’t matter if this sale comes from selling physical products, digital products, or from affiliate offers.
Focusing only on the first sale costs you money, time and energy in the long term. Because you’re going after the smallest percentage of transactions. If you only go after the first sale, you’re actually leaving money on the table because most people will not buy from you at first sight. Now, I want to teach you one of themes important concepts that I learned from my first mentor.
“Passion is not enough to make you rich”
When I first started online I was super passionate about what I was doing. I was investing every minute of free time into my business. At that time I was still in high school so I had many projects and homework to take care of. But any time I had free time I used it to start my business. But regardless of how much passion I had, I was going down the wrong path when I started to focus on just “making money online”. You see, passion is important, but you have to filter that energy on the right marketing strategies and concepts so that your hard work pays off much more.
Having said that, let me tell you about the 2 types of marketers that are out there:
This marketer focuses on building his list, knows how to advertise, create funnels and knows about offers. But he’s main goal is to make money. He sends different offers to his list on a daily basis. Marketer A knows that if he promotes X amount of offers, mails X amount of times and X amount of people open the emails, he will make X amount of money. So it’s all about numbers. He doesn’t care what the offers are about as long as he’s making money from each email. He replaces his list fast build generating leads on a daily basis. So he’s pretty much burning his email list, and then rebuilding it again. On a daily basis.
He actually gives a crap about the people he’s sending his emails to. Marketer B spends time trying to understand his audience so he knows exactly what kind of value to create. He focuses on helping his subscribers get better results, regardless of what niche the list is about.
Marketer B is very strategic and focuses on the long term business. He’s not trying to make fast money with his emails. He’s patient and knows that building a TRIBE of people that are loyal to him and his brand pays off way more in the future. You see, marketer A doesn’t have a business. He just has an email list or following that gets burned are replaced very frequently.
If his advertisement goes down, so does his income stream.
On the other hand, marketer B enjoys the benefits of having full control of his business, and doesn’t depend of Facebook, Google or Youtube changing their advertising policies.
Do you see how powerful it is to build a TRIBE?
I’m actually subscribed to the email lists of several known marketers that are into the ECommerce space (because I do a lot of Ecommerce) just to see how they are mailing, what funnels they use and how they promote their offers.
90% of them only show up when they promote their new offers, or when they have a discount. And when the promotion or product launch is over you won’t hear from them until the next promotion.
People notice these things! I’m telling you. The numbers that you see daily it’s real people reading your emails. You might be thinking: “Sebastian I still don’t have skills and I’m not professional yet” Well, neither was I. If you would check one of my video when I was first starting out you would laugh. Actually you know what? I’ll upload one of those on my Youtube channel soon just so you see how I was in front of the camera.
But to my surprise, even if I sounded really nervous people loved the content. They loved that I actually got in front of the camera and spoke about the things I was learning. The more you execute uncomfortable activities on a daily basis, the more comfortable and skillful you become. The fact that you’re just starting out online, shouldn’t hold you back from building a loyal TRIBE and building a relationship with your followers.
So here’s my advice for you. Regardless of what business you’re in, always always always make sure that you figure out what your audience is struggling with and provide the solutions and value in form of content. Every business in the world needs to make people see the value in what they are offering. Follow these concepts and you will be able to build the business and lifestyle you always dreamed of. Success doesn’t happen overnight, but when it does happen…man is it worth it.
